Mindful Dog is Closing

This has been a very difficult page for me to compose. As most of you know, I was diagnosed with a kidney stone back in mid-March. I expected this to affect the studio schedule for a couple weeks. Unfortunately, almost three months have passed and this issue is still unresolved. I have pain a lot less often but am still waiting for the stone to pass so I can resume full physical activity. I have done almost no yoga during this time period and am just feeling comfortable starting my practice again.

While this was all going on, the studio has been running at a reduced schedule. Due to this, I have not been able to bring in enough money to keep the studio afloat. In order to make ends meet, I have had to take on a non-yoga job that will at times take up a large amount of my time. Unfortunately, this outside job will not allow me enough time to run the studio. As a result of this, I will be closing Mindful Dog.

The regular reduced schedule of classes will end today (May 30). I'd like to send out my appreciation to the teachers who have filled in for me over the past few months. I was so happy that we were able to keep the studio afloat for this long. I will have the lease to the studio for another month so I will be attempting to come back and teach a few classes through the month of June.

I will be posting the June schedule over the weekend. I will be bringing back some of the the weekend classes beginning on June 7 and hope to teach a few more classes during the week. This is all a little vague right now as I have not been teaching and am still not sure what will work for my body after this time off.

I apologize for the short notice of this closing. I was putting it off hoping that something would change and allow me to keep the studio alive but that is not possible now. I know that some of you may have donated money recently and may not have been able to take enough classes to cover your donation. If that is the case, please contact me via Email and I will give refunds for the unused portion of your donation.

I can't even put into words how much I enjoyed this year we had at Mindful Dog. It was my dream to build a vibrant yoga community and bring yoga to people who may have never tried it before or who couldn't afford other yoga studios. I'm hoping some day to be able to do something like this again. I hope to take some time this year to work on a business plan for a true non-profit yoga studio that will allow this dream to continue. I will keep you informed of the future of this idea as well as any other teaching positions I take in the area.

Again, thank you so much for supporting me in this endeavor. I hope to see you in class in June and I hope the yoga practice you have built at Mindful Dog continues to thrive.

Thank you and Namaste,
Bill
